Becoming a Resident

How to fulfill the requirements ?

Anyone who is more than 16 years of age and wishes to reside in Monaco for more than three months in a year, must apply for a residence permit issued by the Monegasque authorities.

European Economic Area - (EEA) nationals:

A valid identity card or passport is enough. No visa is required.

Non-EEA citizens:

Before applying for the residency in the Principality, you must demand a long-term visa for Monaco issued by the French authorities (which is equally required for minors). The French Consulate in your country of residence can orientate you, given that the procedures to follow depend on your nationality and the country you live in.

In all cases, you must:

Attest that you have an accommodation in Monaco which is sufficient in size for the household and adequate financial resources, which mean either have an employment contract, be supported by a third party, or have sufficient savings.

Provide your criminal records information or equivalent.
